Failure Analysis, Materials Engineering, Consulting
Overview
We combine Materials Engineering and Failure analysis to determine why a product, device, component, or structure has failed, and what to do about it. A key part of the process typically involves investigation of the physical evidence, as well as investigation of other pertinent information surrounding a simple loss of functionality, or a complete and catastrophic failure.
Failure analysis can sometimes be a basic exercise in determining why something has broke, or it can be a complex process that crosses many different technical disciplines. It often relies heavily on the collaborative efforts of many individuals, and can involve engineering, microscopy, materials science, chemical analysis, and other techniques.
When failures occur they can lead to personal injury, property damage, loss of productivity, loss of reputation, or worse yet, the loss of life.
Failures, and most importantly, the lack of failures play an important role in product quality, performance, reliability, design, and overall economics.
Whatever level of failure you may encounter, our Engineers and Scientists have the experience and knowledge to perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of the problem. They also have the expertise, competence, and understanding necessary to identify and recommend the appropriate corrective actions as well.
If you’re not sure what level of service you need, call MMR for more information.
